On November 23rd, International Forum on Silk Road Legal Services of the Shanghe Cooperation Organization(SCO) Member States was held at Yiwu, Zhejiang province.

At the opening ceremony, Meng Jianzhu’s instruction of making this forum a success and enhance exchanges and cooperation on legal service with SCO member states was announced. Meng is a member of the Political Bureau of CPC Central Committee and Secretary of Central Political and Legal Affairs Commission.

China’s Minister of Justice Wu Aiying, Russia’s Deputy Minister of Justice Kosarev Maksim, Vice-governor of Zhejiang Province Feng Fei delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. And was presided by China’s Deputy Minister of Justice Liu Zhiqiang.

This International Forum on Silk Road Legal Services of the Shanghe Cooperation Organization(SCO) Member States lasted for two days, and was hosted by China’s Ministry of Justice and assisted by the municipal government of Yiwu. The forum’s topic the main theme of this forum is to “Enhance legal service of ‘The Belt and Road’, and to promote regional economy development”. Attendences had in-depth discussion on the “ vision and action of ‘The Belt and Road’ under the SCO member states’s framework”, “opportunities and challenges of legal service”, “bilateral and multilateral cooperative mechanism”, “dispute resolution mechanism for international economy and trade”, along with other issues.

Member states and observer states of SCO, Deputy Minister of Justice of Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Minister of Justice of Russia, First Deputy Minister of Justice of Tajikistan, First Deputy Minister of Justice of Uzbekistan, Deputy Minister of Justice of Afghanistan, First Deputy Minister of Justice of Belarus, Minister of Law, Justice and Human Rights Division of Pakistan, Deputy Minister of Justice of Azerbaijan, Deputy Minister of Justice of Armenia, Secretary of State of Cambodia’s Ministry of Justice, Secretary of Nepal’s Ministry of Law, Justice and Federal Affairs Ministry, Deputy Minister of Justice of Turkey and Deputy Minister of Justice of Sri Lanka attended the forum with their delegations.

Representatives of SCO Secretariat, legal representatives of Hong Kong and Macao SARs, relevant officers of Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NDRC, Ministry of Commerce, China Council for the Promotion of International Trade and Silk Road Fund, representatives of East China University of Political Science and Law, Shanghai University of Political Science and Law, and other universities delegations, provincial Ministry of Justice (District, Municipal), officers of Justice Department, Bar Association heads and lawyer representatives, relevant officers from departments of Ministry of Justice attended the forum. Ms. Chen Zhen, Chief Partner of Sunshine Law Firm, was also invited.
