Dr. Zhou Zhanggui Attended “Hydropower for Today Forum” and Delivered a Speech on Energy Cooperation
On Nov. 1st and 2nd 2016, the 7th “Hydropower for Today Forum” was held by Ministry of Water Resources and United Nations Industrial Development Organization in Hangzhou. Deputy Provincial Secretary and Executive Vice Governor of Zhejiang Mr. Yuan Jiajun, United Nations Industrial Development Organization Secretary General Mr. Shuttlesworth, Nigerian Minister of Water Resources Miss. Jimeta, Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa Secretary Mr. Sindiso Ngwenya, Fiji Republic Ambassador to China Mr. Naivalurua attended and delivered speeches during the meeting. Minister of Water Resources Chen Lei and attendances from The National Governments and UN delivered the keynote speech. As executive of Sunshine Law Firm’s ERE center, and member of Zhejiang University’s Center for Non-Traditional Security and Peaceful Development Studies, Dr. Zhou Zhanggui delivered a speech named “Opportunities and Challenges on Energy Cooperation of ‘the Belt and Road’”.
Over 300 government officials and experts from 36 countries and International Organizations discussed regarding important and pressing issues on hydropower development and to further promote sustainable hydropower development. Organizing officials Mr. Singh from United Nations Industrial Development Organization, The U.S. KBR Energy Corporation’s CEO Mr. Johnson, International Energy Agency Hydropower Program Secretary General Mr. Nelson, along with 26 representatives including Dr. Zhou Zhanggui from Sunshine Law Firm delivered the forum speeches. Dr. Zhou Zhanggui interpreted opportunities and challenges on China’s developing energy cooperation with countries on “the Belt and Road” under the background of global energy development’s imbalance. He analyzed main legal policy issues and overseas security risk and introduced Sunshine’s overseas legal practice experience and overseas security management system and risk assessment research of Zhejiang University’s Center for Non-Traditional Security and Peaceful Development Studies. Dr. Zhou suggested the urgency of setting cooperative platform in China, Africa and other countries and regions to counter-measure the risks.
